Held Up

Nothing is held up on it's own
Oh, nothing is held up on it's own

Cities are sinking into whirlpools,
Spining like planets in the sky,
Lightning crashes below your feet,
To grab hold like a kite that flies,
Scorched away our firm ground gravity,
Tattered cloths waving in the breeze,
Lying on the land that we'd claimed,
While balancing on spider web trapeeze

Nothing is held up on it's own
Oh, nothing is held up on it's own

Like moths circling around the flame,
We destoryed all creation in God's name,
When flies circle earth like asteroids,
They will die in the jar all the same,
Were free to loose hold of the glass,
Shattered like the ocean on the floor,
The illusion that twinkling stars,
Are grains of sand on stable shores

Nothing is held up on it's own
Oh, nothing is held up on it's own

Hang on to all that still remains,

Moonlight

The shadows of the sunset, are cast in the night's breeze,
As the sun's last shadows, hit the trees falling leaves,
The sun begins to setting, and the wind begins to blow,
The rains come in too fast, and the night moves by too slow

Towering over my head, is the moonlight's glowing mast,
Sailing by in lonley nights, behind the stop signs I have passed,
I will dream about her always, until she's happy in my hands,
I will sail past the ocean depths, and reach the farthest lands

I will dream under the moonlight, until my love appears again,
If this dreaming takes forever, I will be waiting for her then,
Being forced to live tomorrow, while I'm waiting for today,
When the night leaves me to its goodbye, and the morning slips away

I am only dreaming of her, for I have missed my only chance,
The only thing that warms me now,is the cold winds freezing dance,
The sun came down to setting, and the night goes by so slow,
I am waiting for the sunrise, under the moonlight's warming

Desert Blues

What kind of fool, baby,
would drag himself into this?
What kind of fool, baby,
would drag himself into this?
I have no regrets, baby,
Just got a shot of pain in my chest

Got shot in the back, babe,
Can't make my getaway,
Got shot in the back, babe,
Can't make my getaway,
Thought you were tail gating,
Now you're about a thousand miles away

I was burned out on the highway,
Riding on the stretch of tears,
I was burned out on the highway,
Riding on the stretch of tears,
There's burning rubber, baby,
Blood rising on pavement over here

I reached out for the wheel,
Felt the engine clinch my hand,
I reached out for the wheel,
Felt the engine clinch my hand,
If she won't hold me tight,
May as well dig my grave in the sand

Tumble

A river of torn memories cuts through my eyes,
Writing letters sinking on vanishing train lines,
Only snakes and scorpions pry into cactus skins,
Soaking up their venom and drying out everything

When cactus thorns grow as high as prison bars,
And gash just as deep and cause perminant scars,
When realizing that years of freedom were not,
Lying inside caskets under desert sands to rot

And a river is only imagined,
And a mountain is all but crumbled,
In dry winds flutter ravens,
And in sands dead branches tumble

Ship wrecks leave nothing but lanterns and quests,
Deserted beaches hold unearthed treasure chests,
There is so much beauty in the legends been told,
Mirages promised treasures of starlight and gold

Last glimmers of a star that had darkened my mind,
In desert nights was the only light that would shine,
Tumbling blindly in hopes it would guide my hands,
Aimlessly searching for oases in the sand

And a river is only imagined,
And a mountain is all but crumbled,
In dry winds flutter ravens,
And in sands dead branches tumble

Link That Broke The Chain

Oh, I did you wrong,
So I looked back in time so long,
I am the link that broke the chain,
And now only the lock remains

I have leapt off the top of the world,
And I have flown all around,
And nothing could bring me down,
Except for your hands unfurled,
Some people have been broken into,
When the bars feel the most cold,
And I’d say that I am growin’ old,
Feeling every step I take without you

Oh, I did you wrong,
So I looked back in time so long,
I am the link that broke the chain,
And now only the lock remains

Lining up at chain link fences,
To face the firing squads,
You looked away from me to nod,
Brought you down, lost my senses,
If there’s a way this world could change,
It would all but certainly abandon me,
Cast away to face the ruthless seas,
Jagged edges sticking out from chains

Oh, I did you wrong,
So I looked back in time so long,
I am the link that broke the chain,
And now only the lock remains

Thrashing thunderous hammers down,
Uneasy minds are not put to rest,
When dreaming of what is blessed,
Knowing it won’t come back around,
Waterfalls build up from streams,
On life’s road I ran over stones,
Imagined quakes and ended up alone,
Sinking stones find ripples so serene

Oh, I did you wrong,
So I looked back in time so long,
I am the link that broke the chain,
And now only the lock remains

World Gone Mad

I am feeling my way,
Through a world gone mad,

Prophets

Fences and ropes do not define museums, the shackles of time remain bolted down,
With the irons on their tugging wrists, prisoners faces are exploding in tears,
Accused by a wavering drunken boy, intent on defining the thoughts of our time,
He prophesized weakness of man to ensnare, and ordered all restraint be restricted

It puzzled me when I noticed his landlord, bended and smiling to steal from ashtrays,
Twitching by sucking the cigarette's last life, leading his burned down body to death,
I watched as he died in the alley a bum, begging for the last of cigarette's ashes,
To taste the tar that he drowned in before, made his last breathes all the sweeter

The stagecoach comes and knowledge leaves, departing like the fuse of the bomb,
The prophet steals the wealth from the poor, inherited from the rich man's laws,
They are the bandits in gold tinted spurs, used to command blinded horses,
The stallions ain't going to budge no more, for they can target the outlaw's aiming

The tight wire lays close to the flames, the poet and painter lean to that side,
Prophet more like suth-sayers become, the devil within them concealed to praise,
But I see through their Godly masks, the blood of extinction on hide killers,
Dashing into the construction yard, of a hospital ward meant for the dying

Behind Your Veil

You're in the grip of moon and stars,
Company that can be heaved,
The wherever you are,
That so swift you call a jail,
Behind your veil,

The saddest sun is a sailing ship,
It's sinking set by tides,
Never washes away pain,
Fills rain in pails,
Behind your veil

Hear those sea shell dreams begin,
You're paining a new canvas,
With a candle lit within,
So paint a sail,
Lift up your veil

Nobody With A Heart

If anybody else tries to find me,
While they search in the stars,
Tell them that their hearts,
Cannot reach me from so far,
They disturb me with their eyes,
And blanket the night over me,
They convert into fallen shrines,
Under the shade of lost memories

Now I have to choose between someone else and you,
But that's something nobody with a heart could do

Their stinging hearts are encircled,
By thorns growing deep within,
I could see in their chilling eyes,
That their conscience is paper thin,
Their thoughts may have been prayers,
To ease my deepest felt worries,
But their hearts have been abandoned,
Somewhere between the truth and a plea

Now I have to choose between someone else and you,
But that's something nobody with a heart could do

Desperate I was to find you here,
A beacon shining not to loss,
A friend who lifts me to the highest stars,
I no longer retreat but leap across,
And if the anchor drags down hope,
If I stand behind shadows and don't try,
And if I do not always love you,
I'll regret it 'til the day that I die

Now I have to choose between someone else and you,
But that's something nobody with a heart could do

Please Make Sure (It Doesn't Come True)

Please Make Sure It Doesn’t Come True
Everybody told me,
You had gone into solitude,
Interacting with yourself,
Oh wasn't that so rude?
You have a dream, you say,
Of a dark and dreary day,
Please make sure it doesn't come true

You sat on the corner,
Waiting to wear the crown,
Just don't put it on your mind,
That has fallen farther down,
Well, it hurts you to think,
You allow the world to sink,
Please make sure it doesn't come true

The broken glass you throw,
At a ticker day parade,
Cuts the wings of angels,
Who marched as you prayed,
You have found a way out,
By not being that devout,
Please make sure it doesn't come true

You can use parachuttes,
To soften all your falls,
Its the old descent from heaven,
That allows you to stall,
You will land in the flood,
Of your moral vicitims' blood,
Please make sure it doesn't come true

Grief is only medicine,
For those who are never cured,
Yet we cannot keep on grieving,
Through only spoken word,
I see the light being revealed,
But the truth remains concealed,
Please make sure it doesn't come true

Mother Turtle

Mother Turtle,
Why must you leave us in the ground?
And walk away from your young,
Why can't you stayy, for just one day?
To protect us from harms way,
Mother Turtle

The tortoise walked on soldiers frowned faces that wait to smile,
Their minds see friends dying that will be stuck there a while,
van Gough painted raven's flying, they've been flying for miles,
And Gandhi is weeping as his tears fill soldier's loaded rifles

A chestnut seeds falls on a solier that's dying,
The trees bare seeds that through centeries are cying,
Their branches the echoes of long untold stories,
And their seeds are the number of soldiers that bleed

Mother Turtle,
Why do you leave us so far from the ocean's soft tide?
Why do we have to run across the beach for freedom?
Why not lay your eggs a little closer to the shore?
And why can't more lives be saved?
Mother Turtle

A Lifetime Ago

I thought you had saved me, baby,
But you led me down dead end streets,
Don't expect me to give you kisses,
If you expect me to kiss your feet,
It was your heart that turned away,
That turned the sun into hurricanes,
I'll head somewhere down the road, babe,
As soon as I break this ball and chain

I waited for you to change back,
And thought you'd never go,
That's what I thought, baby,
In what seems like a lifetime ago

Though you ran me in circles,
I've never been hung in this noose,
I know you can hold me up, baby,
But I need you to cut me loose,
There is no need for searching,
Won't find love in this heart no more,
You landed us on broken glass, baby,
I don't want to see your face no more

I waited for you to change back,
And thought you'd never go,
That's what I thought, baby,
In what seems like a lifetime ago

I was speading down the highway,
The ambulance gave me the news,
The wheels were spinning off, baby,
Looks like your engine blew a fuse,
I am off to look for something,
Though I'm desolation bound,
I can't look at you no more, baby,
This steering wheel's turning me back around

I waited for you to change back,
And thought you'd never go,
That's what I thought, baby,
In what seems like a lifetime ago

The Mountain's Coming Down (Rough)

I don't believe in heaven,
Nor do I belive in a hell,
Anyone who sends you there,
Has a collapsing world to sell,
God rules on the mountain,
Humanity was built on stones,
The mountain's comin' down,
Forget about the first thrown

Humans patrol this jailed world,
God's in the chains of slavery,
Breaking stones in the jail yard,
Guards won't hear the eternal plea,
The trenches with war's soldiers,
Their blood leaves God's hands,
God's tears flow like a river,
As war mongers wound the land

Mighty streams like justice,
The Lord can't wait no more,
We cannot seem to break through,
Don't trash God's hopes anymore,
Our roots cannot be swayed,
By the mightiest of winds,
We are talking about freedom,
For the world we're living in

Let go of my two hands, death,
Oh, death release my hands,
I feel ready to escape here,
And march off to the promised land,
Look ahead past the broken chains,
And praise people over the Lord,
God may be our life's creator,
But we've destroyed the world

Home Is Where The Heart Is

I once had a home,
It's a million miles away,
Home is where the heart is,
That's what they say,
I once had a home,
Now I have no place to stay,
Empty spaces cold as tombs,
Are paving the way

If anybody asks you,
Don't tell them where you went,
Just look them in the eyes,
They'll see the time you spent,
I cannot go back home,
Oh, how I wish that I could,
But I'm locked out in the rain,
From ragged shoes to beaten hood

I once had a home,
It's a million miles away,
Home is where the heart is,
That's what they say,
I once had a home,
Now I have no place to stay,
Empty spaces cold as tombs,
Are paving the way

Today (VT Tribute)

Today,
Nothing can shake our foundation,
Today,
We stand together as a nation,
Today,
The vigils shine the night away,
Today,
We are so speechless that we pray

Today,
We can only look back in sorrow,
Today,
Casts a cold shadow on tomorrow,
Today,
We cry together deep within,
Today,
The world don't seem worth livin' in

Today,
We have reached no destination,
Today,
Can't hold to silent contemplation,
Today,
Angels bow their heads in tears,
Today,
Somehow we wondered off to here

Today,
Our eyes are fixed on aftermath,
Today,
Abide broken mirrors in the path,
Today,
The tides crash against the beach,
Today,
Only disbelief

Leaving Me To Die

Without any warming,
You just went away,
If you said it in my ear,
I would have stayed,
I was there for you,
Whenever you needed sympathy,
Falling apart over nothing,
We deserve each others pity

I took you in when you were lonely,
And you left me out to die,
Don't try to come any closer,
You'll only make a grown man cry

I was alone in this world,
For too long a time,
My life entrusted in you,
Turns out I was blind,
Thought I had found someone,
Who would really care,
She won't try and remember,
That I was even there

I took you in when you were lonely,
And you left me out to die,
Don't try to come any closer,
You'll only make a grown man cry

Nobody could laugh,
Nobody could cry just the same,
Aimlessly seeing stars,
Wondering who was to blame,
Wish I could hear you now,
Through the fog distance drew,
You should have told me,
I would have listened to you

I took you in when you were lonely,
And you left me out to die,
Don't try to come any closer,
You'll only make a grown man cry

Thorns

I've crawled through a field of thorns that scar,
A flower one can't reach isn't worth this much pain,
When I saw that branches had taken hold of me,
I felt the blood drizzle down my skin like rain

You are far away like a star,
And your light hit me from a bow,
Your kiss reached me like the sun,
But that was from long ago,
Scars you gave only afflict my tears,
Now you hide in your armor of brire,
And the heart that you let die,
You were the one who set it on fire,
Your walls cannot hold me forever,
Your roots are giving way,
I fell for you and landed on rough,
It isn't easy for me to walk away

I've crawled through a field of thorns that scared,
A flower one can't reach isn't worth this much pain,
When I saw that branches had taken hold of me,
I felt the blood drizzle down my skin like rain

No Tomorrow

We sell away future, we never only borrow,
Everybody who is living in the world today,
Must be predicting there will be no tomorrow

There are cannons filled with steal arrows,
That Achilles fires at impending troops,
The moon defends, the river carries navies,
But it turns out both sides are one group,
Melding medellions in the hands of the serpants,
The dragons march with their flames of fears,
Dying peasants are ashes of bombs being promised,
Their children fill their guns with ashes and tears

We sell away our future, we never only borrow,
Everybody who is living in this world today,
Must be predicting there will be no tomorrow

The mole can topple the mightiest fortress,
And it yet it is scared to dig from underneath,
Where the king keeps the prisoners tied up like slaves,
His knights defend his power with their shealth,
I know their is a moat that floods the home,
But be prepared to swim in order to breathe,
Blood flows from our world before a rain,
For cowards draw conclusions with a sheathe

We sell away our future, we never only borrow,
Everyone who is living in this world today,
Must be predicting there will be no tomorrow

The poor know that their child will pass away poor,
While the tyrants drain the world of its holiness,
And the rich market births as our future slaves,
We live on the graveyards of our mountainous excess,
We must all become the sun and clear these clouds away,
Before the dragons poor ash into a suffocating sky,
Toss down that tired sword that has ushered slain

We sell away our future, we never only borrow,
Everyone who is living in this world today,
Must be pretending there will be no tomorrow

Every Moment Without You

Tearful reflections leave me helpless,
Accomplish all I’ve yet to prove,
To flow down drain-less roads,
With all I came to lose,
Eyelids melt like feathered wings,
Heart stuck like lips with glue,
I’ll forever stay a dreamer,
Every moment without you

The umbrella underfoot is broken,
For a certain time could stay afloat,
Like fused hand’s anchor sinks below,
Reading Juliet’s last love note,
My arms reach to free myself,
Knowing sinking dreams can’t come true,
And everything falls gravity bound,
Every moment without you

I’ve paced myself mazed down this road,
I’ve witnessed every platform prize,
But I’ve left that road to eternity,
Just to look into your eyes,
A beggar strides away with cup,
With yarn ball feet attached to you,
Drip stranded barbell tears down cheek,
Every moment without you

Bravely set forth toward setting sun,
The wall between us built complete,
For all the words I’ve yet to tell,
Cannot escape my reversed feet,
Every moment waits to arrive,
Like the morning sky of blue,
Starless nights and sunlit flights,
Every moment without you

All my limbs are tugging hooks,
Like ruling puppeteer at hand,
And if these strings were cords of heart,
They would stretch across the land,
A harp on mouth that jail keeps,
Singing sweet songs praising you,
But instead I’m left to silence here,
Every moment without you

Out the Door (Rough Draft)

No frame on the wall to nail me down,
My face reflected on her life no more,
Broken glass shattered across the ground,
Nothing in the frame worth waiting for

The shield was broken by passers by,
War was ragged in the name of the king,
For a heart I dreamed t'was worth to die,
Turns out that I didn't love a thing,
Scavenge what is left of the courtyard,
Eyes of gladiators fixed on the crowd,
Injured in armor been worn and marred,
Can't love those who you never make proud,
The sight of the lions inside of the cages,
Evening drops before impassible gates,
I walk with respite off of life's stages,
Hollow is a heart without burden's weight

No frame on the wall to nail me down,
My face reflected on her life no more,
Broken glass shattered across the ground,
Nothing in the frame worth waiting for

Love's only fooling me
Wishing well rivers lugged behind by saints,
Drowning me in hell fires up reaching,
Around a heavenly portrait peels stale paint,
Burning in the lies of love's preaching,
This forsaken place where I was locked away,
Lifted hopes replaced through grieving...

No frame on the wall to nail me down,
My face reflected on her life no more,
Broken glass shattered across the ground,
Nothing in the frame worth waiting for

Paper Planes/Miss Her When I'm With Her

Paper Planes

Paper planes,
Swaying to and frow,
Crumbled in a child's hands,
And torn,
Paper planes,
Scribbles on the canvases

Miss Her When I'm With Her

The sun is showing, That even it can be blocked from sight,
Just like a heart, Trying to be seen through a dark night,
Bandits have waited, for the sad sun to set to rain,
They have taken from me, Her love someday to be gained,
My heart's the target, Only she has ever hit its center,
But through this night, Bows had aimed cold winds to enter

Here I remain alone, every strand is tied together,
There is a string, tied onto a dove's worn feathers,
It sits upon the laurel, has no need to fly far away,
In fires of my hellish life, its branches provide shade,
I can't forget her, my heart spins like roulette wheels,
My words keep their distance, Kept in dreams I can feel

When he holds her close, his heart has mine severed,
Lost love will dig my grave, Only the dead can wait forever,
I can't live without her, or imagine my recuring memory,
She is not with me, What the unloving would call plenty,
But I'm not like them, patience does not mean I'm ceasing,
I fear this delay, While the love within me is increasing

Silent rejections whisper, Into my ears until I awake,
Dreams grow stronger, For her I'd put all time at stake,
I feel her through my dreams, How can her heart feel like mine?
Like an anchor on me, My love is trapped behind the line,
I could have lost faith, It depends on where our hearts were,
It has become routine, For me to miss her when I'm with her

Happiness Is A Lifetime Away

Blessed was I just the other day,
Now happiness is a lifetime away

Drink champagne and toast your glass,
You will see only distortions of kingdom's past,
And in your head no dreams will ever last,
As you head out the door in your fabled mask,
You stammer down the steps to the sidewalk,
With a bottle in your hand, carving in chalk,
Never considering where others may walk,
You suffocate in the talons of wayward hawks

Blessed was I just the other day,
Now happiness is a lifetime away

Before you know just where you'll land,
You see the feathers they caught held in their hands,
Relying on winds to make curves in the sand,
All the while carving out where you stand,
A trap door was hidden amongst the stars,
Just when you thought that you would go so far,
And just when you found constilations bizarre,
The moon is sinking deeper into cosmic tar

Blessed was I just the other day,
Now happiness is a lifetime away

And I Know

Mount Vesuvius erupts like a car bomb,
The suffering forged by screams of time,
They bellow through the ruins of a city,
And echo boundless through forgotten shrines,
Nothing is left by the time planes touch down,
Babylon's outcasts outside it's crumbling walls,
God cannot hear us from a sanctuary's rubble,
Preserving charred bodies wrapped tightly in palls

Fight It (Reggae)

You got to fight it, and fight it, and fight it, til the war is through

Put down the stone and let it free,
Falls into space where it can breathe,
Spinning cut loose from yo-yo strings,
It's orbit remains a crazy thing,
Every last woe has been repeating,
Yet nobody knows what tomorrow brings

You got to fight it, and fight it, and fight it, til the war is through

We have been down many times before,
And when we're up we never soar,
But that is all about to change,
Paths we had followed seem so strange,
As if to lead us on nursery rhymes,
All when we have so little time

You got to fight it, and fight it, and fight it, til the war is through

A Tribute to Woody Guthrie's Folk Songs

I was a stranger,
In this far off land,
Nobody touched me,
With their gentle hands,
Had to find out on my own,
That the law was off my side,
And whever I traveled,
A bandit couldn't hide,
I guess that I rambled,
For too long this time,
Maybe I will meet you,
In your piece of mind

I'm clinging to dreams
As I'm walking alone,
They can't even see,
All they have been shown,
With a day old prayer,
And a worn out garments,
If my money's still there,
Dead in my hands, sacred parchment

I'll die an outlaw,
But I ain't crying,
I won't surrender myself,
In my time of dying,
Nobody ever rambles,
And nobody fades away,
Walking this deserted ground,
When no one will dig my grave

Just A Dream

Has this lonely man lost his way?
Was there ever a bow that missed it's mark?
Would you say that we imagine darkness,
And are too afraid to set the spark?
Is it for my sake that I regret?
Walking from trenches to a bitter steam,
I wonder where my heart longs to be,
And yet I know it's all an empty dream

When you begin to fear getting closer,
You know that nothing is all that clear,
And everytime the silence is mentioned,
Your voice rings out through my ears,
It's not worth going home to blankets,
Like window shades hiding transparency,
Of eyes after realizing they're your own,
And that that is all you had set out to see

She's A Bird

I bet that you thought,
You breathed wind into the air,
And launched my wings as tattered sails,
Determined to set me off course somewhere,
Now I see how all your lovers drowned,
Pierced by the roots of your weeds,
Growing over what they saw as beauty,
You're the last thing a garden needs

Birds lose their wings,
When they fly into the glass,
I'm surpised that my eyes made it,
When they saw you as you passed,
It's not that you are lifeless,
You feel you're the one to be chased,
I flew but then I fell for you,
And I landed flat on my face

You know it is impossible,
To claim your heart as your own,
You can steal as many as you desire,
And yet you will always remain alone,
The sun shines through the rains to me,
I know the light's will can break through,
You shattered my eyes and broke my heart,
I hope your true love flies right over you

Fire Deep Within

The road was its hardest fought,
On the days I felt when love was not,
When eveybody looked the same to me,
You came over to me to give me company,
You were the first one to inspire me,
I gained everything I drempt love could be,
Feels like I have myself to gain,
I'll feel like nothing if you don't remain

I saw the bright morning sun breaking,
From now on my soul's no longer aching,
My heart was rebuilt by your bearing,
I'll stay here with you, my eyes not staring,
To storms ahead I had feared before,
With you I don't have to worry anymore,
Even if the world floods to its core,
My love for you will make it to the shore

Now that the storms have calmed,
The clouds in retreat no longer belong,
And this sun I could never feel,
All of a sudden with your love shines real,
To everything that ever went amiss,
Help me leave them behind with your sweet kiss,
That feels like the soft ocean winds,
A fog rolling out and a fire deep within

Extinction: Rough Draft

As leaves dry in the summer,
There are only cobweb veins,
Landing leaves in parched rivers,
Remnants of the floods remain,
The grave stones keep on rising,
To where vultures are piloting,
They demolish land for road kill,
And we don't worry about a thing

Death has a grip on the world,
Spinning through a static sky,
That is too often distorted,
By those who opportunely fly,
Blocking out last gleams of light,
It's routine to control and survey,
The world outside is falling apart,
But who looks out peep holes anyway?

The galaxies will twist and turn,
And we may even be upside down,
The surfaces are always shifting,
I'm not sure we're on solid ground,
To be forced under a microscope,
Discovering life under frozen lakes,
Sailing among stars only to find,
A broken lense that couldn't take

And all these content people,
They are facing towards the ground,
Waiting for the executioner,
To trip a giluteen's sound,
No need to explore the stars,
When you're making shallow graves,
And there's no need to carry on,
With no more roads to pave

From Graceland To The Grasslands

Tattered flags wave under eagles flying so high,
I saw in them vultures had been foolin’ our eyes,
They say they fly so high to answer our prayers,
And that they see through dirt where the tractors tear

Where the sun had once risen over the fields,
Death’s shadowy cloak has blanketed the yield,
A tornado bore down and uprooted seeds,
These workin’ fingers ripped apart by weeds

Ravens perched hiding from the scarecrow’s eyes,
Can’t figure why the glitter causes them to fly,
Lighting builds as ravens gather in storms,
Scavengers fighting over the very last corn

"Lost Verse"
[Ol’ Farmer Joe looked out his window pain,
We’re going underground and praying for rain,
When there’s no more soils worth being dug,
The dry ground tossed over a feast for the bugs]

While Johnny plays Country Boy on the radio,
I remember how things use to be so long ago,
There is nothing left of the American Dream,
It was no longer worth manufacturing

I rode from Graceland to the grassland,
Took a step outside, knee deep into quicksand
The coyote is a’cryin’ as the moon comes risin’,
And the night flows down hills from the horizon

Marble of the Sun

Shooting stars cut us to the core,
You had kept so many dreams before,
Now you throw broken glass into rivers,
Until fine pieces of memories shimmer

CHORUS:
I have not lived to be the object of your scorn,
And I have changed since I was born,
In my universe you were the only one,
And it all cracked like a marble of the sun

Some people weep after they repent,
About years lost and where it all went,
If you ask me it was time well spent,
There was a change in that descent

CHORUS

I had lost my mind and you conquered,
But I found there is more to me than her,
I was closer to you than we ever were,
Can't let my last thoughts be your final words

CHORUS

There is nowhere else for you to fly,
My monsterous claws, black smoke in the sky,
Fires were burning 'til the candles died,
Lost where nothing will enter my hurting eyes

CHORUS

I've felt troubles as daggers on my mind,
And fear turning back to what I left behind,
Seeing in myself that life is not often kind,
I care 'cause nothing's more painful to remind

Laura

To pick a flower only to watch it wilt,
I walked through heaven and then fell from stilts,
The mountains behind me and the valley below,
At the end of a line with my dreams in a row

Some people on platforms, some on the stage,
Some people on the noose, and some in their grave,
Stearing wheel's busted and the tires are flat,
I've been forced to pull memories out of a hat

If I looked into your eyes I would see hurricanes,
Through the clouds I see that the flood remains,
Years of happiness have turned into sludge,
The sink is overflowing and the drain won't budge

It defeats the purpose of tredding anything,
Only to be wisked away on a hook and a string,
As I'm released back below the surface waves,
I take my last breathe living as a slave

I'm in a lighthouse facing this storm,
Standing on top of where the world was formed,
The orchestra acts like waves crashing stage,
And Romeo flips ahead to the very last page

I have been cursed with the most wicked ways,
Love can leave you empty when the demons pray,
So whisper in my ears, my angel from above,
The deafeaning heartbeat of a fruitless love

If I got up to hold you, what would you say?
Would you hold me back like a tragic play?
And if I were to come and visit your bones,
At least I would feel like I had never been alone

I know a lonely woman who has yet to see,
A heart that stretches out to eternity,
She cannot build and is forced only to cling,
Onto a golden road as tense as a sling

If I were never to see her smile again,
I would be forced to face these brutal winds,
That tear thorns from roots like a needle's end,
Fallen from heaven by a large gust of wind

I'm haunted by those who will never return,
I'm looking out at hell with no more bridges to burn,
Time drives me crazy and it shatters my mind,
Broken vases wouldn't leave me to a fate so kind

Inside I am certain that a flower still grows,
But then again, as a still-life, who am I to know?
Somebody coats their world with blinding piant,
As I cry out to her ears in silenced restraint

Broken Hearts and Shattered Dreams/Love A'Salin' (Rough Draft)

Love A Salin'

When my worst fears have all come true,
And the foggy nights are charging in,
When none of your hearts catch up to me,
And I think of her in silent reflection,
May time be swifter than the arrow,
And race me back to where I may belong,
I need give a message to my true love,
Pateintly waiting on the shoreline

I lift sails to see the course ahead,
See the shore when the boat is unmoving,
Blanketing my eyes to catch the wind,
Unsure if love would ever catch me,
But the anchor will not be cast today,
If so my heart would surely follow,
Being determined to sail forward,
And remaining not on the roily ocean

So many ships have been crossing seas,
As many are returning home in splinters,
Never again will for me be that life,
That left some drowned and others deserted,
They did not trust the crowsnest,
It aims too far and sees too far ahead,
And can sense storms attacking the bow,
And sail away from clear blue skies

If my lonley heart were to cower away,
I would be left broken and abandoned,
It would be sole the fault of my voice,
Speaking not over the raging tides,
This ocean was built by my tears,
After being rejected through the years,
Now becuase of my love's stable ground,
I am ready to face down my fears

Broken Hearts and Shattered Dreams

Broken hearts and shattered dreams,
An autumn leaf cast to the waterfalls,
Frozen as a veil never lifted,
Glides like snow through winds without walls,
Caught on branches like bird feathers,
A child's balloon that lost its grip,
The land ripping apart underneath my feet,
into the void they slip

Broken hearts and shattered dreams,
The grindstone that burnt me down,

They are disgarded and I pity who I was before,
But I am still forced to wear this frown,

Human Kind

Ambitions must be broad enough to include the needs of others,
you will not believe as long as you do not love one another,
Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
I am a Hindu, a Moslem, a Christian, a Jew...

One who dares to waste has not discovered the value of life,
Our planet is the heart of the great Web of All Life,
Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living,
Remember, no one has ever become poor by giving

The best of the houses is where orphans get kindness,
Yet the weakness of humanity is our blindness,
Ink of scholars is more sacred than the blood of the martyr,
Above all, thou shalt not be a victim nor a bystander

We give thanks to the Creator for these fruits of the sea,
We must become the change that we want to see,
The frog does not drink up the pond in which he lives,
For the value of a person resides in what they give

Whenever you are confronted with an opponent, conquer him with love,
An individual has not started living until he can rise above,
Thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one striking at the root,
You are only to perform your duty without an eye on their fruit

A generous heart, service and compassion are the things which renew humanity,
There is no beauty in the finest cloth if it makes hunger and poverty,
The real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth,
you have the courage within you to fulfill the purpose of your birth

A man is not considered a good man because he is good at talking,
One does not sell the earth upon which the people are walking,
Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be,
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy

The meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in peace,
Christ warned that warfare will not cease, but will increase,
We give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve,
Preech the right opinion, speech, conduct, employment, exertion, and resolve

God will free you from slavery with a strong hand and outstretched arm,
Nobody should consider himself superior nor do harm,
A power which enslaves the individual by terror and force, an enemy it must,
May the world we leave them be a better one than was left to us

Picasso's Dream

Picasso wanted to weep, upon the colors of the stream,
He paints golden tears, reflecting from the sunlit dreams,
Mona Lisa steps upon them, they appear as stairs to light,
But as she falls down cheek, love's shadow a skybound flight,
Romeo forgot all about Juliet, did not drown her in poison,
Daggers keep a candle to night, but can't dim the eyes from sun

She bloomed like sunflowers, against a wallpaper peeling,
Van Gough's tears flood the pavement, attatched to lost feelings,
Out through windows Picasso stares, to nothing but a storm,
His hands against the glass, prayers don't keep his heart warm,
So he painted a dying flame, As if it were living at last,
And let it expire, Burning she loves me petals of the past

A man ponders before the flames, enclosing on his thoughts,
His hand waits to feel, her loving hand resting on top,
His eyes stare into distance, towards her eyes he wishes for,
Singing to an empty museum, Picasso stares down to the floor,
He's in the middle of galleries, surrounded by a past he knew,
Picasso holds out flower stems, grab the heart he keeps for you

You Will Make It Through: Music Video

LYRICS:
The knight on his stallion,
Turned out to hold a shield,
He hid all his lies from you,
While his heart was cold as steel,
Icarus charged towards the sun,
Tried to stab your day to night,
But his anchor fell from you,
As you dawned on him in flight

And you will make it through,
Oh, You will make it through,
Through the gates of heaven,
And all they'll lead you to

When leaves fall from trees,
Like shooting stars disappear,
And the snow is your blanket,
And you feel like no one's near,
Make it past the frozen rivers,
Walk past their cobble stones,
The fallen castle, just a wall,
Built to keep you there alone

But you will make it through,
Oh, You will make it through,
Through the gates of heaven,
And all they'll lead you to

The sky rushes away from you,
Dreams he promised in clouds,
But he crowns heads with halos,
After wrapping eyes in shrouds,
Outside hearts, words are weeds,
But inside grow the roots of love,
With meadows lost to deserts,
You like rain, fall from above

But you will make it through,
Oh, you will make it through,
Through the gates of heaven,
And all they'll lead you to

His winter briar field grew,
From the middle of your heart,
You still keep it all inside,
After wilted flowers part,
Vines laced around your wings,
You wait on freezing ground,
A wanderer came passing by,
With only you around

But you will make it through,
Oh, you will make it through,
Through the gates of heaven,
And all they'll lead you to

"I Am a Seed" Lullaby: by Sonnenberg

LYRICS:
I am a seed upon the wind
Borne by the living breeze
That floats throught the forest
My wanderings have no end.

I am a raft upon the sea
Tossed by the waves of change,
I see only water
And blindly curse my fate.

I am a lamp that must be lit.
Yours are the golden rays
That shine through the darkness
Come touch your match to me.

I want to see you once again.
Breathe me a breath of sunlight
Touched by your magic
And waken me from sleep.

I am a lonely grain of sand.
You are the mighty ocean
Timeless and boundless
Come shape me with your hand.

Your love creates my destiny.
Though I am blind and deaf
To music and wonder,
I feel them call to me.

I am a seed upon the wind
Borne by the living breeze
That floats throught the forest
I feel you call to me.

Chicken Little

Chicken Little saw the roosters,
She heard the big bombs fly,
All the explosions and yelling,
Here falls down the sky,
But the roosters and farmhands,
Would not believe the little one,
The sky is not falling,
But our wars has just begun,
The sky wasn’t falling then,
And to roosters that was good,
But if the sky could really fall,
They didn’t question if it could

Little poked into the henhouse,
And saw chickens guard their eggs,
They were trying to protect them,
Fearfully shaking their legs,
She saw the hen house bombarded,
After she took one step outside,
She wouldn’t be a silent witness,
She would have to choose a side,
And since Little learned humbly,
To share thoughts and make noise,
She thought the same of life,
Said no more sharing war toys

She approached a warful rooster,
Who held a knife in plain sight,
The farmhouse was an internment,
Little knew it wasn’t right,
She tapped on the elder’s shoulder,
And looked him in the face,
Little looked at the roosters smile,
And frowned with her disgrace,
The general was writing blueprints,
He used a missile to surround,
The rooster looked up at murders,
And then looked right back down

“Who are you?” Said the rooster,
You are messing up my plan,
Where is your machine gun?
You should hold it in your hand,
Little then saw the hatchlings,
They all fought for eggs to teach,
They grabbed any egg they could,
Whenever peace was out of reach,
Then the farmer graced in,
He had come to collect eggs,
And all the farm birds cheered him,
Thinking he was God instead

All the fury bombs had landed,
The chickens blew their coops,
But this wasn’t playtime laughing,
For the dying hatchling troops,
For they will keep on killing,
It is the only way to live,
But if you have no time for loving,
Then you have no life to give,
So brave the darting bullets,
For those who fire them at you,
They can’t return the favor,
If you shoot your bullets, too

Silo castles filled the sky,
Nesting chickens put at post,
Waiting for their eggs to hatch,
Which they loved to keep the most,
But off to war chicks had to go,
Just as Little had to do,
But she complained of violence,
That the world was coming to,
She was laughed at by her father,
As her mother held her near,
To her father’s golden metals,
War’s answer was quite clear

The roosters charged the cavalry,
It was a sea of slitting throats,
To ride the blood bath massacre,
Noah would have to build a boat,
But Chicken Little saw this,
And told Noah not to build,
They need to learn their lesson,
They need to be able not to kill,
Noah agreed with her on this,
He then threw the planks aside,
Why should I be sailing,
If life itself can't ride?

The sky drifts away from courage,
It can’t support bombs anymore,
We can keep bullets from flying,
We can put an end to war,
But the guns of warlords,
Give us a firing squad world,
If you keep all of the grenades,
Then you have nothing left to hurl,
Chicken Little sees skies falling,
The elder roosters don’t believe,
They sit and play their death games,
That God can’t even conceive

What We Call The News/Better Days

Better Days
Please do not let this path diverge,
Let not my heart carry armor but love,
I've been held down by this storm so long,
That only the light you give me shines above,
I stare out of windows expecting rain,
Not so much a choice as clouds cover blue,
Now I'm walking through this cold misty morning,
Hoping these skies will clear and I'll see you

The days that brought this rain,
Release the sun when I'm with you,
And those are the better days,
That I am looking forward to

Every time when I lose my way to go,
I take the time to look back on the past,
The paths felt so vacant, hidden and empty,
But I have followed a road to you at last,
The sun can run its path only to discard,
And love can hide in shadows until it's born,
I followed long roads soaked in flooding rains,
But was awakened to be rescued from the storm

The days that brought this rain,
Release the sun when I'm with you,
And those are the better days,
That I am looking forward to

Rough Draft: I Never Look Into The Eyes of A Stranger When I Go

Whatever road you took/ and whatever road you rattled,
You are still very far/ from the safety of home,
That it pains you to go out/ and view every sunset,
And know that you still/ had so far to roam

And I never look/ into the eyes of a stranger/ when I go

Whatever you gotta lug/ make sure it fits on you,
And wasn't torn to shreds/ before you could be rescued,
Nobody knows where you've been/ Why should they bother?
It's not as if they're ending up/ or going any farther,

And I never look/ into the eyes of a stranger/ when I go

The wind is cold as ice/ the ground grinds me down,
I have nowhere else to go/ but I can't stay in this town,
I was being stepped on/ Sinking in mud is bad enough,
If swords are still stuck in stone/ Then that's tough

And I never look/ into the eyes of a stranger/ when I go

Can't trust this world to hang on/ to what it shakes,
The seeds had been scattered/ fenced behind the stakes,
Sat through the driest season/ roots became tumbleweeds,
Harvesting thistles in chains, as they watched me bleed

And I never look/ into the eyes of a stranger/ when I go

Flooding Golden Roads

There is nowhere left to go,
Down in this abandoned city,
Where I hear winds hit the road,
And lift the sand to my breathe,
I'm coughing out newspapers,
Like visions carved in stone,
The defeats that last forever,
Will never leave you alone

All I had has ended up,
Battered and shaken down,
A mountain was drowned by floods,
Wasn't worth it for this town,
Paving roads in solid gold,
The sun reflects against eyes,
And people no more look up,
To see the storms fill the sky

A mirage of fountain coins,
Appeared from dragon scales,
Resting on the ocean floor,
Colliding with a ship's sails,
The mast was battered by winds,
The ship took on the water,
The depths like a siren,
A serpent’s silent slaughter

I revisited the place,
That I had once called my home,
Until I regained my senses,
And I saw beyond the throne,
That all it had been,
Was myths pilled like boulders,
Reaching the mountain top,
Only to be the sole beholder

It's a length I now know,
Is invincible and untaken,
Can take journeys to realize,
That you've been mistaken,
The whole of time wasted,
Only to the shovel's course,
I'm leaving that all behind me,
And I feel no remorse

The Virginia tech Massacre (Rough Draft)

Clouds wisk through branches,
Echoes through dead trees,
Leaves are still falling,
In the eternal breeze,
I wish what I could say,
Would turn this world around,
But bullets fly overhead,
Everybody deaf to the sound

Trying to make sense of it all,
What roots have grown in dust?
Once thought as inconcievable,
Was planted in a sudden gust,
Looked out from this hill before,
Shadows fall over that time,
Handcuffs of cocked rifles,
And the massacre's bind

The Silent Sea Shell

Do you ever wonder its like,
To sail in your dreams,
When sand castles are crumbling,
Built too close to rising streams,
And are you one to cross the oceans,
Without a compass or the sands,
Blanket yourself in stars tonight,
And you will reach dry land

"Wiser through the looking glass,"
A hermit crab said to me,
"I see you bundled up inside,
On the shore of the vastest sea,"
The moon glistens upon the waves,
"Take your steps so carefully,
I would lament if shells would drown,
No breath to set them free

Only in my darkest dreams,
I could imagine such a fate,
Weary travelers close eyes to stars,
As I had sunk below the waves,
Before you beg to question,
Why you are in a subsiding shell,
All because your love persists,
And you take not the time to tell

Magellan's Useless Quest

Everybody noticed she was stuck in Magellan’s eyes,
When they tried to remove her he violently cried,
By the end of eternity, the pliers couldn’t pry,
They told him that the only way he could survive,
Was to rip his priceless eyes from his useless sockets,
Magellan secured them in his dream catcher’s broken pockets

Magellan fully draped over with horseshoes ablaze,
Being trampled when he lost his only trail,
The map that he followed was sewn over his eyes,
To remind him of the pathetic ways he failed,
Watching Juliet sink into his dreams,
And all he could do would be to try to follow

Magellan fell asleep and was nailed to Atlantis,
Where he dreamed of Salvador Dali’s clocks,
And as the melting clocks draped over him,
Dali ordered that the clocks be stopped with locks,
And right then came in the poisoned hail,
And Magellan froze the clocks over him forever

Magellan gave a carousel to a heartless treasure seeker,
With Romeo beside him in his prison cell,
When the guard offered him eternal freedom,
Magellan said he would rather stay in his cell,
He said he would not leave until the day he died,
And outside remains Romeo with tears in his eyes

There Was A Time, My Friend

Keeping up on upper platforms,
Where many people transform,
Ravens obscure lampshades,
Bullet holes in rocking chairs,
Bloody arms in rusted fences,
Could not quite reach their senses,
Skulls gnawed on by packed lions,
A treasure map enlocked in hand,
Rock stars will fall to shambles,
We take no peaceful gambles,
The spotlight’s almost faded,
Like the olive branch in hand,
Eyes reflect vigil candles,
Burying the results of vandals,
Bullets shatter windows,
As soldiers march down streets,
Theatres are filled with disguises,
As a possessed Laertes revises,
Teaching children to kill children,
Neighbors dead by neighbors hands,
There was a time like this,
My friend

Too many anchors growing,
Not enough people knowing,
Too few ideas growing,
Moss spreads across a seed,
Dreams flow down through gutters,
Not seen behind closed shutters,
Onlookers planting vultures,
Circling in hurricanes,
Gas masks used in riots,
Grenades tick on lilacs,
Blind man’s eyes shed teardrops,
Thankful that he can’t see,
Children with hearts so tender,
In cardboard homes are forced surrender,
Veins run through leather,
Open pastures, fenced off gates,
Tortoises are losing races,
Can’t run to keep their places,
Fields of love in blazes,
Herds of zebra in stampede,
There was a time like this,
My friend

Waterfalls rage out eardrums,
In the alleys lay bums,
Mailboxes are transferred,
From one war zone to the next,
Pouncing lions in tall grasses,
Block off escape hatches,
The savannah sun sets sternly,
Birds blanket dusting skies,
Charles Darwin and his peace dove,
They say that we need more love,
But Nero paces circles,
Around Darwin’s sinking ship,
With pens being slain like dragons,
Dead ends circling like wagons,
People aren’t aware that,
Birds migrate, winter comes,
Autumn leaves like anvils,
Parades left in shambles,
Streamers stepped on crumpled,
Vacant streets and broken eyes,
There was a time like this,
My friend

You can sit in a haze,
And soak in the craze,
Genius opens doorways,
Sword swallowers keep the keys,
People are stuck in sideburns,
Wheels like the world turns,
To get on your tanks and battle,
For tattoos and green streetlights,
People can crawl on ceilings,
Losing all their feelings,
Cities left to crumble,
Even rats can’t fit the cracks,
Key rings are holding pirates,
It’s always too late to quit,
Earthquake ruins overpower,
Crushed rainbows, unseen signs,
Silence to the masses,
In front of still life grasses,
Calculations fail,
Mushrooms consume, silence reigns,
And there is no time left to act,
My friend

Life

It's upsetting when you're born all cryin’
And it don’t end up ‘til your day of dyin’,
When you find yourself workin’ in a minin’ yard,
Workin’ ‘til your hands can’t work so hard,
Coal mines in piles stretch high and wide,
So high that you wonder if there’s even a sky,
The shovel’s as heavy as a barbell’s weight,
Then you look up and see something really faint,
A glimmer of sky, a glimmer of hope,
You lay down your shovel and unfasten your rope,
And that’s when your wings start to grow,
And you feel the sun’s potent, immortal glow

But not everyone has made the cut,
Those who fail burn up in cigarette butts,
For a trolley its twenty five cents you’ll need,
You can take a ride and have your greed,
Fro those who may think they’re lives are a bust,
People sleep on tin cans and rusted saw dust,
And the trolley burns down their only known homes,
And nobody sees them as they go down the road,
Tank wheels reflecting in puddles of blood,
Seen after the storms in the slums of damp mud,
Right below them are barbed wire fences,
And laid right in front are the old war zone trenches

There are so many times when you’ve been caught dreamin’,
So many things inside your heard teamin’
Dreaming of pastures and wide open places,
But when you wake up they leave no traces,
And from second story window sills,
People look down on your to get their thrills,
But you don’t have to take that abuse,
And before you know it you’ve been cut loose,
You’ll leave your villains on a sinkin’ boat sailin’,
We’ll see how they like it when they do the pailin’,
And once you move forward on the rail road track,
There ain’t no way you’re hitchin’ back

The only things left are the noiseless sounds,
Faces of people like playing cards down,
All pilled together in a random stack,
Grasped together by a sturdy thumb tack,
Face down you can’t tell people apart,
But look up at each other, a whole bloody war starts,
And some people’s hearts are stone pipe black,
Traded in for a penny and a cigarette pack,
The candy land tales they dreamt as a child,
The ones that they had for such a short while,
When you lie in bed and springs bury you deep,
You look up from the pillows without any sleep

As you walk down the road and you think at each stop,
If the steep road to nothing is where you have dropped,
One day you’ll see that the whole world’s a failin’,
And people have shrines behind windows to be hailin’,
Corpses are rotting inside beating hearts,
And their lives keep rolling after gears fall apart,
The time will shift like branches in the breeze,
So many locked doors that have never had keys,
You need to find a way out of that place,
Too many gutters have poured down your face,
You have to pave your own way, make your own road,
And not always follow the things you are told,

Do what you want, and do what you should,
Not the things that are bad but the things that are good,
And when this whole crazy world has got you beat,
You can take a stand or take a seat,
I don’t know about you but my legs ain’t broken,
My heart not stopped and my eyes not soakin’,
And when this whole crazy world gets your down,
You can pick yourself up or knock yourself down,
You can always be somewhere,
Where nobody knows you’re even there,
Do you start givin’ up and start your dyin’?
Or do you pick yourself up and keep on tryin’?

Wilted Rose

I'm waiting like a wilted rose,
Buried so I can bloom again,
When Spring seems so far away,
I'm still close so I feel a friend,
Nobody can tear me away from her,
The pain of petals torn from me,
Landing in a seedless heart,
Roots stretch out but don't feel free

A winter feels as long as dreams,
Lost forever like opportunity,
They can pick she-loves-he petals,
But they can't take love away from me,
I can't hold on to shattered pieces,
Falling like snow infront of me,
As I run to prop a closing door,
Her heart melts ice that holds the key

There are sharp thorns around me,
That keep her from my touch,
But behind my hidden heart's mask,
I still love her very much,
The flower recovers from rains,
Drowns in tears but floats on hope,
The flower cannot forget the sun,
If the rains remain I will never cope

When a flower feels itself picked,
It recieves a hug and feels held dear,
It does not feel torn from Earth,
Unless it is dropped after she came near,
A rose that has never held on,
Can't reach her from this shelf,
She was the flower's only sun beam,
Its wilting under cold shade of all else

I'll Cry For You (Final Draft)

I'll hold my relieved arms around you,
And you can rest your head against my shoulder,
So close to me encircled in a starlight cocoon,
Stranded in a universe that couldn't get much colder,
Webs of stars, defeated, hang from my skin,
They are healing scars the pavent left us in,
Chasing after butterflies that caused accidents,
Saying that they'd take us under their wings

If you ever feel wounded,
And haven't taken flight,
I'll cry for you,
Oh, I'll cry for you,
So you don't have to

Do you know what it's like to find your home again?
And do you know what its like to have a friend?
Some days you wash up upon the deserted shores,
After sailing unknown oceans made you insecure,
Spider strands blocked off the universe from you,
From up close it looked like locks on the door,
I know the sand won't fall from under your feet,
If only it had seemed like this to you before

If you ever feel wounded,
And haven't taken flight,
I'll cry for you,
Oh, I'll cry for you,
So you don't have to

Maybe you're a wave that has found no other shore,
Believe me I have crashed on one of those before,
Heart beats skip like tides to answer other prayers
And you lose grasp holding onto hearts already torn,
I am finally convinced that nothing's out of place,
Yet I'm bound to wonder what it's all about,
And if you already know what love is,
Than why take the time to find out?

Rejection

My hands will still reach out for her,
I have dreamed like the night grows dim,
My tired heart has never had to mask itself,
With undertaker disquises worn by him,
It may be so true that he loved her once,
I admire her faith but I'm still skeptical,
He can't rebuild the castle he tore down,
And expect the princess not to mind the fall

You meant so much to her, I know you did,
But as her friend I can no longer stand by you,
You hurt her so badly again and again,
If you love her, only once you have to choose,
If not you don't have to tell her anything,
She can still read your indecisive prayers,
And if they are no longer meant for her,
Than your heart is crippled beyond repair

Unlock her so to be abandoned from your grip,
Let go of her hand so that she can fly again,
In the long time that you had spent with her,
I wish you would have acted more like her friend,
But the secrets you have kept hidden from her,
As numerous as the women held in your arms,
Your heart flowered with its touch like thorns,
Yet she is trapped in the web not sensing harm

All his armor cannot help protect her now,
She needs to take a stand for only she can,
He fell into her grown state of illusion,
She didn't feel his weapon when holding hands,
She needs to crawl from under his prison walls,
Or be forced behind a winter's window paine,
But she can break the trance he has put her in,
If only she realizes rejection causes pain

He, the sun one time, now reaches her like fog,
She can't find ways through love ground to dust,
She had found sanctuary in his comforting arms,
Now her stained glass eyes shatter with his touch,
But she won't embark alone into deserted lands,
Facing the winds that scar and scatter no seed,
I remind her the sun makes it through the night,
But I can't pave the way because her heart must lead

He will try to rebuild the sky from dimmer stars,
But she is hardly seen as his brighter day,
Of course he thinks he can strand her there,
Where he left her in the night and walked away,
There are abuses in the shadows unreflected,
He has committed himself to the darkest skies,
Neither rain nor night could ever hold her there,
Where he hides the brighest light from her eyes

Portraits On The Wall

Worriless people appear walking though museums,
Their souls the artifacts of their ancestors,
While the poor man's dust broken faces decay,
They are blown like wind scattered through time

They are portraits on the wall,
Some are shadows on the pavement,
But you can't look away,
You can't look away,
Some hang in museums,
Others forgotten in memory,
But you can't look away,
You can't look away

As you walk through the galleries before you,
You see faces becoming void of expression,
You can only think to pity their lives,
As they stare out into their helpless eternity

They are portraits on the wall,
Some are shadows on the pavement,
But you can't look away,
You can't look away
Some hang in museums,
Others forgotten in memory,
But you can't look away,
You can't look away

Echoing graffiti exhibits against debris,
Portraits locked up at night curled into frames,
Face down from the goddesses posing before them,
Nobody can see their blood splattered on walls

They are portraits on the wall,
Some are shadows on the pavement,
But you can't look away,
You can't look away,
Some hang in museums,
Others forgotten in memory,
But you can't look away,
You can't look away

Breaking News: U.S. Funds Being Secretly Funneled To Violent Al Qaeda-Linked Groups

Hersh: U.S. Funds Being Secretly Funneled To Violent Al Qaeda-Linked Groups

New Yorker columnist Sy Hersh says the “single most explosive” element of his latest article involves an effort by the Bush administration to stem the growth of Shiite influence in the Middle East (specifically the Iranian government and Hezbollah in Lebanon) by funding violent Sunni groups.
Hersh says the U.S. has been “pumping money, a great deal of money, without congressional authority, without any congressional oversight” for covert operations in the Middle East where it wants to “stop the Shiite spread or the Shiite influence.” Hersh says these funds have ended up in the hands of “three Sunni jihadist groups” who are “connected to al Qaeda” but “want to take on Hezbollah.”
Hersh summed up his scoop in stark terms: “We are simply in a situation where this president is really taking his notion of executive privilege to the absolute limit here, running covert operations, using money that was not authorized by Congress, supporting groups indirectly that are involved with the same people that did 9/11.”
Hersh added, “All of this should be investigated by Congress, by the way, and I trust it will be. In my talking to membership — members there, they are very upset that they know nothing about this. And they have great many suspicions.”

Transcript:
BLITZER: Near the end of your article, you have this explosive point in there about John Negroponte, who is now going to be the deputy secretary of state, as opposed to the head of U.S. intelligence.
You write this: “I was subsequently told by the two government consultants and the former senior intelligence officials that the echoes of Iran-Contra were a factor in Negroponte’s decision to resign from the National Intelligence directorship and accept the position of deputy secretary of state.”
Explain what you were hearing, because that is obviously a very explosive charge.
HERSH: Yes. It is probably the single most explosive, if you will, or depressing — or distressing sort of thing I discovered in the last few months, which is simply this. This administration has made a policy change, a decision that they are going to put all of the pressure they can on the Shiites, that is the Shiite regime in Iran, the Shiite — and they are also doing everything they can to stop Hezbollah — which is Shiite, the Hezbollah organization from getting any control or any more of a political foothold in Lebanon.
So they essentially, I quote the — I saw Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, and he described it this way, as “fitna (ph),” the Arab word for “civil war.” As far as he is concerned, we are interested in recreating what is happening in Iraq in Lebanon, that is Sunni versus Shia. And in looking into that story, and I saw him in December, I found this. That we have been pumping money, a great deal of money, without congressional authority, without any congressional oversight, Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia is putting up some of this money, for covert operations in many areas of the Middle East where we think that the — we want to stop the Shiite spread or the Shiite influence.
They call it the “Shiite Crescent.” And a lot of this money, and I can’t tell you with absolute certainty how — exactly when and how, but this money has gotten into the hands — among other places, in Lebanon, into the hands of three — at least three jihadist groups. There are three Sunni jihadist groups whose main claim to fame inside Lebanon right now is that they are very tough. These are people connected to al Qaeda who want to take on Hezbollah. So this government, at the minimum, we may not directly be funneling money to them, but we certainly know that these groups exist.
My government, which arrests al Qaeda every place it can find them and send — some of them are n Guantanamo and other places, is sitting back while the Lebanese government we support, the government of Prime Minister Siniora, is providing arms and sustenance to three jihadist groups whose sole function, seems to me and to the people that talk to me in our government, to be there in case there is a real shoot-’em-up with Hezbollah and we really get into some sort of serious major conflict between the Sunni government and Hezbollah, which is largely Shia, who are basically — or as you know, there is a coalition headed by Hezbollah that is challenging the government right now, demonstrations, sit-ins.
There has been some violence. So America, my country, without telling Congress, using funds not appropriated, I don’t know where, by my sources believe much of the money obviously came from Iraq where there is all kinds of piles of loose money, pools of cash that could be used for covert operations.
All of this should be investigated by Congress, by the way, and I trust it will be. In my talking to membership — members there, they are very upset that they know nothing about this. And they have great many suspicions.
We are simply in a situation where this president is really taking his notion of executive privilege to the absolute limit here, running covert operations, using money that was not authorized by Congress, supporting groups indirectly that are involved with the same people that did 9/11, and we should be arresting these people rather than looking the other way…
BLITZER: And your bottom line, Sy…
HERSH: … and could lead to a real mess…
BLITZER: Your bottom line is that Negroponte was aware of this, obviously, and he wanted to distance himself from it? That is why he decided to give up that position and take the number two job at the State Department?
HERSH: He — that is one of the reasons, I was told. Negroponte also was not in tune with Cheney. There was a lot of complaints about him because he was seen as much of a stickler, too ethical for some of the operations the Pentagon wants to run.

Seeds

We won't grow over a hill of weeds,
But I ain't gonna quit my tryin',
I don't know of any seeds anymore,
They are sprouted or they're dyin'

We awoke before the sun can say,
Its hidding underneith and covered,
Oh, night's moon will enspire us with song,
Until the sun's light is recovered

You can take from me this chaffy gold,
And can purchase where I am standin',
But I will be sure I plant revered seeds,
Into the ground for their expandin'

Listen you all to the raven bird,
It knows to not conceal the brightened,
It will conquer the thieves of the light,
And give hope those who are frightened

You may take with you this sturdy cane,
Faithful to me and my walkin',
They are hoping to bury us today,
And never let roots grow to stalkin'

Democracy Won't Die

I remember a day when freedom,
Was a concept that was held dear,
Now it has become only a word,
To provoke division, hate and fear,
But I know that you among us,
Cannot stand what has taken place,
The rape of the flag for profits,
And a nation mourning in disgrace,
Now could I ask you kindly,
To refrain from feeling sad,
I know that dreams were crushed,
But the sun will lift what we had,
Fight for freedom fellow drifters,
There is more work to be done,
We'll march on the road to freedom,
And we'll head to the rising sun

And democracy won't die before me,
The future will walk along side us,
What do you believe in, my country?
We'll march back onto that freedom bus,
And justice will belong to all of us

Some weep for my beloved country,
Not me and not in my name,
Come and praise the rainbows,
Don't march to the flooding rains,
I can see their hands a’ reaching,
Above the waters for a limb,
They will drown in their own hatred,
And they will never reach Him,
My heart can never turn away,
As I reach down in the streams,
And rescue those being dragged down,
By stones disguised as God's dreams,
It's not too late to stand up,
And breathe air that gives you voice,
Stand up for the world in peace,
And we shall all sing and rejoice

And democracy won't die before me,
The future will walk along side us,
What do you believe in, my country?
We'll march back onto that freedom bus,
And justice will belong to all of us

I stand aside the hopeful souls,
Staring towards a clear blue sky,
Behind us charge the flooding rains,
We can't just stare and wonder why,
Lift the sun over these mountains,
You will feel the strength within,
The cold shadows can be lifted,
If we join together we will win,
I feel our unity today,
They can't turn us away,
We will march toward justice,
And reach the promised land someday,
We will stand behind this family,
Of this world and it's human race,
And they cannot turn us away,
Our hearts will not abandon this sacred place

And democracy won't die before me,
The future will walk along side us,
What do you believe in, my country?
We'll march back onto that freedom bus,
And justice will belong to all of us

Love Has Passed You By

I occupied my time,
With what could fit in a dream,
The words to say, won't go away,
Love is never what it seems,
Love had left,
Though I never gave a sigh,
No regrets, never forget,
When love has passed you by

But now I know,
That love is not a losing game,
I miss you and could kiss you,
Things just aren't the same,
I still can't see,
Another lonesome day pass by,
Sharing tears, nothing left here,
When love has passed you by

As time went by,
Every dream hid in the clouds,
As if the Gods of love,
Will never again shoot them down,
Enter Iracrus,
From behind the curtain flies,
Dreamed nights and sunlit flights,
When love has passed you by

I now realize,
That just the time was wrong,
This is where I gave my prayer,
And feel like I belong,
But I can't go there,
The flames touching the sky,
No escaping from the fall,
When love has passed you by

If you believe,
In the day after the sunrise,
Love found you and has bound you,
So as not to fall from the skies,
Hold on tightly,
Me to you and you to I,
Time has passed, We're here at last,
After love had passed us by

The Knight Dubbed Don Quixote

Where corn stalks grow golden, beneath the forenoon setting sun,
The burying winds with shovel soldiers, The windmills slowly spun,
A lone knight upon his noble steed, Rising up from shadowed hills,
He was a Johnny Appleseed, Planting sunbeams to be tiled,
While people bellowed angry words, Love grew behind his steps,
Blazed on every trail taken, Rosinante never slept,
The endless dark clouds lifted, Ruptured by one brave saint,
Who on the dried out Spanish pastures, The fairytales he would paint,
Swept out of the cupboards, Were unspun compassed dreams,
Which escaped all their boundaries, From sinking tar pit streams,
He knew a better day was soon to come, As he knew of everyday,
He could shape it like a mountain, or let it slip away,
And in a moment’s notice, Don had broken roads to pave,
Sancho broke out from his confinement, He knew he had a world to save,
If not on billboards or in government, then where do true heroes lie?
They are the ones attempting to do good by saving lives,
That was all he tried to do, It’s all a knight could ever be,
The story of Sancho Panza, and the knight dubbed Don Quixote

A wagon stranded in an alley way, with wheels as the trash can’s lids,
And all the things inside the bag, Were never meant to be thrown in,
Wheels pierced by spears of war, Lancing stabbing to get freed,
Then Quixote said to Sancho, this is what our purpose must be,
We must free those who are ailing, Free any soul in distress,
The days ahead will look brighter, he said, with wars laid to rest,
Burdens held in the heroes lances, All the outlets in his hands,
His shield held on his bold heart, Which he used to protect lands,
With straw homes built around him, The knight sat on his saddle,
The wolf winds made unwavering sounds, The start of bloodshed battles,
The stars in the sky above, Drip down to aid in the fight,
They shine in the tears of victims, Who stare at missiles in their flight,
Better start running to the cellar, and escape through the descent,
As soon as Don took a step outside, The land around him had been spent,
Sliding down the new shaped valley, With Sancho by his side,
Don’s helmet of gold fell to the earth, And was stolen by a tide,
The waves ascended the two knights, Like headlights to a deer,
And a sling shot gave to Goliath, Was by warlord heathens revered

Don Quixote has overthrown them, It is not a dream anymore,
There were once iron parachutes, Pilling up before the ruler’s door,
The door through strong has broken, Fallen pieces in each hand,
What Don Quixote saw as a prison, Against love could not withstand,
All the locks all disappeared, They were all the world had seen,
But in the eyes of Don Quixote, Were slaves and death now seen,
So many people had been lost, In the greed of gold medallions,
More should hold dear the stately dreams, Of Quixote on his stallion,
All this time we’ve spent in a dungeon, Waiting for knights to set us free,
But all you need, says Sancho, Are the eyes of Don Quixote,
It is not up to Don Quixote, To cast you from your fears,
But you see deaths caused by windmills, Trying to blow away your tears,
Walls that flames have burned down, Now sweet flowers are afoot,
Ragging are the pastured winds, That blow away the blackened soot,
For so long a time, A fog can keep its hold,
But Sancho looks at all he had passed, Leaving behind the hidden roads,
If you are stuck on cobweb wheels, On a ship about to drown,
The shipmates stared from the crow’s nest, As Sancho lost his flightless down

The Love She Met Before

Love came in the autumn’s late, The rivers lay in a dormant state,
The winter winds will not wait, They will drag us both apart,
Last winter found her another heart, Leaving me to delay my start,
Snowflakes puncture like a gash, It is the repletion of the past,
I love her, not love slashed, And her far eyes make love seem so vast

Now I see no Spring ahead, But I feel her heart and I'll be led,
But under leaves falling like lead, Stealing grip like thieves,
I pray that I will believe, That my love has not meant to leave,
I carved an angel in the frost, Remembering the wings I've lost,
For she saved me from the first, Been trapped there since my birth

To be a blossom that waits to bloom, Walking in the loveless tombs,
They want to bury me behind, But I will live with thoughts of when,
It damages my soul within, I repeat that I cannot let her know,
She is like the gentle snow, Falling right into a warming glow,
For her heart I will wait, Behind closing heaven's gates

The sun holds out flower fields, Out before me so I can't yield,
I never hid behind a shield, But now her love seems so sealed,
I found her in eternal Spring, From harsh branches winters clings,
From her hands the winter brings, A touch that makes the birds sing,
My life follows anchor rings, And loss keeps a puppet on a string

Through the snow I see no feet, My tracks covered by love I meet,
She has had a love to greet, I can only walk on empty streets,
Since fierce winds of winter clung, Against hopes of love so young,
Above me clouds are strung, Constellations sewing drowning ships,
Sinking into cloud's lost grips, Just like a loved heart slips

Nothing More Than This

You will live your life,
Like a piece of falling glass,
Dropping like the flower buds,
After the coldest winters pass,
You percieved your kingdoms,
They came from all your splenders,
But if you see your sword in hand,
Those massacres you would remember,
You can be so mistaken,
When you can admire all your dreams,
If I could cut in skin like you,
I would fall into their screams,
I would itch like fire blazes,
And be crying down like rain,
But all your countless murders,
Never seem to bring you pain

Once you climb over mountains,
You see the longest roads,
But you never see the land mines,
That are preparing to explode,
You then send away your army,
Charging strait ahead,
Though you're not convinced of murder,
When you walk over the dead,
If all else fails but you,
Then what crimes have you done?
To win your admiration,
Of all the other ones?
If you went in the wrong direction,
There was nobody to point you there,
Once they see you tailing,
Allow them all to stop and stare

Step into the burning tar,
And then find the other shore,
you have launched those skipping stones,
That can't leap up anymore,
A bird has this strange confusion,
What should it do to fly?
You become the clouds of any rain,
And then cover up the sky,
And like a dandoline ocean,
Neptune lifts the ocean winds,
You can blow all of these kisses,
Right into your harmful sins,
With your fairy tale envy,
Of the sword out of the stone,
At the end of every lethal swing,
You will find that you're alone

I'll never lift this sinking heart,
Some things can not come true,
You would be the ocean,
If the same happened to you,
Walk to the stage across the plank,
Where you hold on for your skin,
Which never seems to contiplate,
All the sins that are within,
And some people will not mention,
That others fall by name,
While you rise up like a queen,
And it's a crying shame,
That you can't assist them up again,
You give them the gallow's glee,
And you turn your head away from them,
Which you will never see

Stone's Throw

So many dreams,
So many days awoken,
My life was shattered,
My heart became broken,
A didn't know,
If I could travel on,
My feeble feet,
Against the barren dawn

A heart abandoned,
Not a heart of stone,
Left unregarded,
To face the world alone,
Watch what you hold,
On your fingertips,
Affection for you,
Just might slip

A flightless bird,
Cannot make it higher,
Overlooking fruitless love,
From a growing fire,
A flight against gravity,
That's how it seemed,
I'm just a stones throw,
From a dream

Not Like You At All

It’s not like you at all,
To assume that you have failed,
To beat yourself up along the trail,
Thinking you took the wrong road there,
You can hear the vultures call,
Over the wasteland where you crawl,
But that’s not like you at all

It’s not like you at all,
To refuse to live a day,
And to let one slip away,
Before it ever reaches you,
You no longer stand up tall,
You hide and feel so small,
But that’s not like you at all

It's not like you at all,
To hold down your two feet,
To be poised for your retreat,
At the start of the new day,
You may fear a coming squall,
While pressed up against the wall,
But that's not like you at all

You can’t see through the night,
There appears no hope in sight,
You are scared of what the day may bring,
But you will surmount it all,
Just remember you can’t fall,
Just remember you can’t fall

Breaking Up

Your voice is beginning to break up out here,
Sand storms brush over harsh desert terrain,
Looking back once more as my car expels smoke,
A water-color mirage that slowly stains,
I can only feel this suitcase in my hands,
Able to salvage the few things that remain,
I looked out to the storm clouded horizon,
Where phone lines stretch out as far as trains

There are no roots in this rocks and gravel,
Blood from the crash drips down my skin,
Hobbling along with broken glass like mirrors,
Reflecting the pain that for so long hurt within,
But the tortoise shell is only scared, not broken,
He is a fighter and will survive what comes,
It has crossed endless roads after the dust bowl,
A sacrificial walk that would be too much for some

Flat tires like footsteps on the side of the road,
Steps taken but not deep enough to brace,
An impact felt in hearts outstretched for miles,
Leaving this burned out wasteland without a trace,
Road kill sizzles as sweat drips from my skin,
Dust strikes me like being buried in the ground,
I'm losing touch with you and all that you say,
The winds have replaced static as the only sound

Kokopelli

Like swarming locusts, we devour the earth,
Pollution covers mountains of human birth,
New customs stole great histories away,
Nothing learned from the Hopi ways,
And the seeds on Kokopelli’s back,
Have been exchanged for wads of cash,
Now we all have Kokopelli to buy,
But the rains have stopped and the soil's dry

From proud cultures the greedy loot,
Dust storms rise from the hunchback’s flute,
The value held in this sacred land,
Is worth more than the money crumpled in your hands,
Their water is stolen and Hopi can’t grow corn,
It is as if a people had never been born,
You who don’t have to face these droughts,
Will spend all you have until nothing sprouts

Can’t till the soils from which you once fed,
When you’re drilling for oil and mining for lead,
And with Kokopelli stuck on your store shelves,
He becomes only a shell of his former self,
Manufactured in China through American eyes,
The sun is setting over the life-giving sky,
A tourist icon has been trapped on display,
Watching the world around him wither away

Nothing To Feel

Nobody can see,
The kindness within,
Her heart is alone,
And pays for their sins,
Wherever she goes,
Inside she weeps,
It is only a dream,
That she gently sleeps,
She holds back,
Trapped in silent prayer,
He's at the healm,
Both bound to die there,
Guess it becomes true,
That love isn't real,
Just an empty space,
With nothing to feel

The wind died down,
The rain would stop,
All in the hopes,
Of what was not,
Drops of silence,
Pound against her face,
Her eyes wide open,
Not going anyplace,
Sounds that crumbled,
Are being stepped upon,
But she won't notice,
Until it is all gone,
Nowhere else to go,
Is there more to say?
Either love what you will,
Or love what you may

Ballad of A Tin Man

Eden melts like statued Oz,
The horizon sunset is gold road,
Four travelers on a setting wagon,
It's wheels ready to corrode,
Upon the path where bare feet tred,
Lie cupid's broken arrows,
I watched as the cowardly immortal lion,
Disfigured the sure-minded scarecrow,
Tin man walked through sun lit fields,
It didn't matter where he rode,
The Lion escorted Dorothy out,
And heaved himself into a moat,
Packing an oil can with him,
Knowing that it could not float,
The sea then engulfed the tin man,
And he sank like a foothold boat

The two marched on horizon gold,
Upon a road that never bent,
The map they used to travel with,
Made their sturdy, stable tent,
Footprints lodged inside the hills,
They must all dream alone,
All the dreams they once held dear,
Shattered like straw bones,
Behind an old run down coffee house,
In a garden that is never seen,
The tin man picked his paint brush up,
And depicted untold dreams,
The lion painted a box over them,
With all the dreams secured inside,
And while Dorothy pondered its meaning,
The two ran inside the box to hide

Unwound

When they have let go,
And all around you is unwound,
You will feel within you,
That your heart is still bound

But they cannot rend you,
Or leave you there alone,
Progressing with the ripples,
Formed by a fallen throne,
Letting go of the fire,
They once thought as stone,
With your growing desire,
They dare not have flown,
You are not a child,
Abandoned in the reeds,
They were all seprants,
Trapping you in misdeeds,
Now that you are older,
Outgrowing is your task,
You are a beaming angel,
That lay upon the grass

When they have let go,
And all around you is unwound,
You will feel within you,
That your heart is still bound

Though you see your world,
Fall apart before your eyes,
Preventing you from dreaming,
Are storm clouds in the skies,
Painted like portraits,
Of the tears in your eyes,
Staining desolate roads,
Embarked from long goodbyes,
But you'll reach your dreams,
You've longed for for years,
While trapped in a dungeon,
Thinking all's disappeared,
Shut hearts like flowers,
Will bloom with the sun,
Holding our hands tightly,
As our worlds come undone

When they have let go,
And all around you is unwound,
You will feel within you,
That your heart is still bound

Mama, They Killed Me

They killed me mama,
They have killed my family,
They told me it was fine,
Working in their fields and factories,
But they had lied to my eyes,
Poisoned from my skin to bones,
My friends were by mu side,
But now I’m crying all alone,
They killed me mama,
Their chemicals replaced my blood,
On the factory floor I labored,
And in the fields of toxic mud,
They knew of all the dangers,
That they were feeding me,
I’m dying ma’, I’m dying ma’,
And, mama, they killed me

They killed me, mama,
Our children become lab rats,
Stretch the soils to their limits,
Covered in their chemicals vats,
They just told me to do my work,
And that I belonged to the company,
They told me not to worry,
And that it didn’t concern me,
They killed me, mama,
I know I was not raised this way,
Still the poisoners insist,
They will bring us better days,
But I can see our lives are broken,
From sea to shining sea,
I’m dying ma’, I’m dying ma’,
And, mama, they killed me

Land Under Heaven

Leaving is not gone,
Staying is not here,
You may still see your crying face,
After you wash away your tears,
Nothing left is here,
Nothing here is gone,
So take your crutch and heal soon,
You have firm land to travel on

Take all of these rainstorms,
Their shadows turn to sun,
You will walk upon their beams,
Until falling can't be done

It is a land under heaven,
For an angel without wings,
Dark clouds may conceal you,
Just forget about those things,
Move forwards and not backwards,
For your back's weighed down by tears,
But the roads ahead are dry and vast,
Just fly right up and peer

You Will Make It Through

The knight on his stallion,
Turned out to hold a shield,
He hid all his lies from you,
While his heart was cold as steel,
Icarus charged towards the sun,
Tried to stab your day to night,
But his anchor fell from you,
As you dawned on him in flight

And you will make it through,
Oh, You will make it through,
Through the gates of heaven,
And all they'll lead you to

When leaves fall from trees,
Like shooting stars disappear,
And the snow is your blanket,
And you feel like no one's near,
Make it past the frozen rivers,
Walk on their cobble stones,
The fallen castle, just a wall,
Built to keep you there alone

But you will make it through,
Oh, You will make it through,
Through the gates of heaven,
And all they'll lead you to

The sky rushes away from you,
Dreams he promised in clouds,
But he crowns heads with halos,
After wrapping eyes in shrouds,
Outside hearts, words are weeds,
But inside grow the roots of love,
With meadows lost to deserts,
You like rain, fall from above

But you will make it through,
Oh, you will make it through,
Through the gates of heaven,
And all they'll lead you to

His winter briar field grew,
From the middle of your heart,
You still keep it all inside,
After wilted flowers part,
Vines laced around your wings,
You wait on freezing ground,
A wanderer came passing by,
With only you around

Deer In The Headlights

I waited for the morning
But the rain clouds showed,
A deer in the headlights,
On the side of the road

Relentless flies buzzing around,
As I breathe air's stenches in,
Sunshine can't make it through,
Past these grey misty winds,
Stuck on this endless highway,
In a city where I lost my mind,
Since I had reeled and gambled,
It seems like the longest time

I waited for the morning
But the rain clouds showed,
A deer in the headlights,
On the side of the road

Cars passed by like I was home,
Staring blankly into the rain,
Can't see past fog that won't lift,
Rainy curtains over window panes,
I can see only weeds to my sides,
A dirt road traveled under my feet,
Don't know what I'll see when rains clear,
But I feel nothing growing underneath

I waited for the morning
But the rain clouds showed,
A deer in the headlights,
On the side of the road

Love of Everything

The Lord of all he gained was tickled to his soul,
Until we realized he was being devoured by moles,
With their teeth in his veins that wouldn't let go,
He kept walking until mazes grew out of control

He ran to see his bride who was knitting in pursuit,
To regain his power that was not perceived as roots,
But she gouged out his eyes and gave a mock salute,
To the heart that she knew before suspicion took root

He took it as an improvement and said it to her face,
The wounds still bled through the tightly wound lace,
This was as close as it got to feeling warm embrace,
Tattered angel wings unhinged were falling from grace

Before he could lift a finger the room began to shake,
His legs drilled to the core were giving way to break,
Grabbing for bust's platforms would become his last mistake,
For he grabbed Medusa's curse and in his palms crawled snakes

He became frozen like exiled Gods in statuesque poses,
Shattered like mountains boulders and Burning Bush Roses,
It was as if Robin Hood hit him to the core from his bow,
Wrinkled roots and gray bodies die in forests never sown
