Say Your Prayers

Vigil candles are burning out,
There is nothing left to see,
Relying on fire and brimstone,
And the ashes of past centuries,
Where tridents bearing candle sticks,
Devoured our seas in flame,
Prayers release apocalyptic nightmares,
Chanted like holy omens in God's name

Vigil candles are burning out,
We must refuse to hang on to the past,
There are those who say, "Just let it go,
The fuse is burning out too fast."
They swallow scripture like poison,
And feed off of concentration camps,
That burn and tear the world asunder,
Feeling sympathy for infesting rats

Vigil candles are burning out,
Lighting roads perceived as direction,
On it's edges crash wailing cemeteries,
Stretching from our feet to the horizon,
Prophetic winds blow over these lands,
But the ash they carry burns my eyes,
Tuck me in soundly so I cannot hear,
And sing me a lullaby so I won't cry
